Onam Celebration

Onam Celebration

Onam festival unites everyone from all communities in Kerala irrespective of their religion and caste. It is one of the most popular festivals in India and celebrated with great pomp. Onam was celebrated at campus on August 21 involving the faculty and staff of The Yenepoya School and PU College.

The program was simple this year due to the covid protocols. The celebrations included setting up an attractive floral decoration (pookkalam) at the foyer. The program was graced by the esteemed dignitaries Mrs Mishria Javeed , Campus Director, Mrs Grace Noronha, Principal, Mr Ravi Goyal, Admin Officer, Mr Saad Yenepoya, an alumnus, of The Yenepoya School and all teaching and non teaching members of Staff joined in the festivities. The celebration included the lighting of the lamp and many members of Staff dressed up in traditional Onam attire beautified the celebration even further.

Onam is a harvest festival celebrating the reward of nature after a year of hard work by the farmers. The beauty of the festival lies in its secular outlook.. People of all religions, castes, and communities celebrate the festival with equal joy and verve. The pandemic has changed the very nature of Onam celebrations, but it has not lowered the spirit of the annual harvest festival.
