Kindergarten Teachers Workshop

It is rightly quoted by Robert Baden-Powell, “Try and leave this world a little better than you found it.”

The Yenepoya School in association with the Muslim Educational Institutions Federation had conducted a Workshop for Montessori Teachers across Udupi & Dakshina Kannada districts on 24th and 25th June, 2022, at the school campus. It was a momentous and impressive occasion, as the school hosted over 120 participants from 44 schools across the districts.
The event commenced with a prayer to the Almighty to seek his blessings. The programme marked the presence of the Director of The Yenepoya Group, Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Javeed who added splendor to the gathering. It was a privilege and honor to have Mr. B.M. Mumthaz Ali – Chairman – Misbah Group of Institutions, Katipalla, as the Chief Guest for the session. The occasion was addressed by Mr. Moosabba Beary, President of MEIF and was presided by the Campus Director of The Yenepoya School & P.U. College, Mrs. Mishria Javeed. Mr. Abdul Rehman, Treasurer of MEIF, Mr. Sheikh Rehmathulla and Mr. B.A. Iqbal, Krishnapura, Executive Committee members, were also present among the others.

The event was marvelously presented by Ms. Krisha D’silva. Mrs. Fathima Shameena flagged off the workshop training with a brainstorming session for the representatives on the first day. It was an interactive session where the teachers were explained fine motor and gross motor skills. Mrs. Deepthi Karkera and Mrs. Rosemarie Saldanha emphasized the need of sandpaper tracing, joining the dots and strokes. They also explained about writing methodology which is followed in the classroom like rainbow writing, tracing and writing in the air, skin and on the board. Ms. Ramya, Ms. Gauthami and Ms. Krithika, lent their hands with wonderful demonstration of practical and sensory instruments. Ms. Sunitha Karkada intoned some wonderful rhymes and the audience joined her in the singing. Full of oomph ice breaker sessions were conducted for the participants which they enjoyed thoroughly marking the end of the day.

The second day of the workshop commenced with a recap of day one by Ms. Pallavi, Ms. Smitha and Ms. Shubha. They explained in detail about the various ways for introducing themes to students. The workshop also comprised of some interesting sessions on Math with concepts like introduction of numbers with rhymes by Mrs. Shameena and Mrs. Zeena. The teachers expressed an attention-grabbing trick to edify a math concept with the hungry crocodile tale. The addressees were charmed with the art and craft session and some fantastic stories and concepts related to it carried out by Ms. Charitha, Ms. Patricia and Ms. Tannia. Ms. Emilynne and Ms. Rashmi enlightened the audience about the importance of understanding children and creating an everlasting impact on them. Finally, the participants had to indulge in activities based on rhymes and themes for an assessment.

The valedictory ceremony included prize and certificate distribution for the winners and participants. Mr. Haji Abdul Rasheed, President of Sayyed Madani Educational Institutions, Ullal, was the guest for the evening. The function was presided by Mr. B.A. Nazeer, General Secretary of MEIF. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Campus coordinator, Mrs. Euvet Pereira.
